January 2012 Podcast w/Tracklist

I am here

I’ve been operating in stealth mode but there are actually moves being made in the background some of you are up on. In the meantime I put together another podcast/mix of music inspired by some of the other music I’ve been checking out online and in the clubs. I put the link up on FB and Twitter but didn’t get around to putting together the tracklist until now so sorry for being redundant. In other news my current work email is a wrap so please reach me via johnbartleson@gmail.com and stay tuned for news on my new work situation coming very soon…

In the meantime for the foreseeable future I will be traveling; to LA, San Clemente, Disneyland, London, Barcelona (hmmm…) and then finally back to New York I hope.

And now the for the tracklist. Enjoy!

New Music! John Bartleson – Cloud 9

Pop Science Thursdays at TBD Lounge 6-10 pm Every Week Starting 11/10

Digerati, special guests and I’m playing records. Last week I chopped up some Climax Blues Band and EPMD with friends in the house from Amobee and Yahoo in town for Adtech. If that is the kind of thing you’re into come on down. 15 Gold St. and Platt. Word.

Ok so now what?

Thanks to my friend Holly for hooking me up with a cool opportunity to put together some travel themed music for this Nokia event. I had to resist the urge to include Egyptian Lover, Europe’s “Final Countdown” made the cut and I am of the opinion that DeBarge “Stay With Me” should be played at all art openings. This week I’m attending an event tomorrow at Bowery Hotel and starting a new after work event at Gild Hall called Pop Science Thursdays from 6-10 pm where I will be DJing. To top it off it’s ad:tech so it should be another interesting week.

Boo-rooklyneer tonight and a crazy week coming up

Tonight (Halloween | 10/31) starting at 9 pm I’ll be playing records for my friend Mary at a Halloween party for her blog A Girl Around Town at the Brooklyneer on Houston St. starting at around 9 pm. My lovely wife Galit will be doing some face painting too… I think. The spot is very close to the parade route so I am told you may need to tell the cops you are going to the party to get onto houston st. from 7th ave. Should be a fun night especially if you don’t have to get up too early tomorrow.

Later in the week (Thurs | 11/3) I’m playing at Marquee after doing a private event for Nokia (thanks holly!) earlier in the evening. And that’s not all… on Friday (11/4) thanks to my man Seth from Shameless I will be playing at Gild Hall from 6-10 pm. In the event you are a friend who would like attend any of these events please hit me up and thanks to everyone for their support. I couldn’t be more excited and I’ve taken some time to pull together a whole slew of new records for your listening pleasure!

I cannot explain the significance of the mustaches but come through anyway!

Commercial Dance Mix October 2011

I put this together for fun and it features some of my favorite pop and dance music. As a DJ at the end of the day your job is to move the crowd so this is attempt to cater to the masses but with some taste and ‘flair.’ All the crazy build ups and the way you can put things together these days it’s hard to resist today’s new dance music. As much as I love the classics, like a lot of DJ’s I too am slowly getting addicted to playing new music. Enjoy!

Places I’ve Played Records

Yours truly and look, real records!

Just for my own sake I wanted to keep a list of the places where I’ve played records b/c when I’m cruising around the city I always see places and say ‘oh wait I DJ’d there!’ so with no further adieu… places I managed to convince someone to pay me to come play music for people.

For anyone involved in any of these experiences (except for the guy who took my envelope that night at Speeed) thank you. If it wasn’t for these memories my life in New York would be, um, way less memorable for sure.
